About VESMIS

Founding Phase of VESMIS

The Veterinary European Society for Minimally Invasive Surgery (VESMIS) is currently in its founding phase. During this initial period, the Society is administered by a Provisional Board responsible for establishing the governance structure and organizing the first activities of the Society. It will serve until the first formal elections are held.

The responsibilities of the Provisional Board include:

 

Establishing the statutes and governance policies of VESMIS
Developing the scientific and educational strategy of the Society
Initiating collaborations with related veterinary organizations
Organizing the first VESMIS scientific meeting
Preparing the first General Assembly, during which the regular governing bodies of the Society will be elected by the members.

Advisory Board

Purpose: To provide guidance and ensure representation of established endoscopic societies within VESMIS.

Composition:

  • One representative from each recognized national or international veterinary endoscopic society.
  • Non-voting honorary advisors (if necessary, e.g., distinguished professionals in veterinary endoscopic surgery).

Duties:

  • Offer expertise and advice on scientific, ethical, and organizational matters.
  • Ensure alignment of VESMIS goals with the interests of the broader veterinary community.
  • Review and approve major policy decisions.

Purpose: To oversee the quality and integrity of research activities and publications.

Chair (appointed by the Provisional Board)

  • 5-7 members with expertise in veterinary endoscopic surgery and related fields.

Duties:

  • Promote research in minimally invasive veterinary surgery.
  • Organize peer reviews for abstracts and scientific contributions.
  • Develop guidelines for endoscopic procedures.

  • Plan the annual VESMIS congress and other events.
  • Coordinate with the Scientific Committee to ensure high-quality presentations.
  • Identify and invite speakers.
